Bio
Said Salehe is a scientist and educator working at the intersection of aging biology, computational genomics, and environmental health. Currently an Assistant Lecturer at Muhimbili University of Health and Allied Sciences (MUHAS) in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, he is completing his PhD at Florida International University (FIU) within the Brain, Behavior, and Environment (BBE) program.
A dual-fellowship alumnus of both the Fulbright Program and the Commonwealth Fellowship, Said’s academic journey is defined by a commitment to understanding the molecular drivers of neurodegeneration. His doctoral research leverages computational genomics and systems biology to investigate how the aging process transitions from healthy to pathological states.
By integrating single-cell trajectory analysis with experimental validation, his work aims to uncover how gene-environment interactions (GxE) drive early neurodegenerative changes. Ultimately, Said aims to translate these insights into diagnostic biomarkers and therapeutic strategies tailored for global health contexts.
